Why not get involved with this year’s Road Safety Week?
Brake, the Road Safety charity wants as many businesses as possible to get involved in this year’s Road Safety Week, which will take place from 23rd to 29th November.
According to the latest available statistics,15,935 people in the UK were killed or hurt by drink and drug drivers in 2007, and Brake believes this an increasingly important theme for companies to consider in a culture of widely available drugs and binge drinking.
The charity says involvement by companies in Road Safety Week can help ‘hammer home’ the importance of road safety to staff, suppliers, customers and the community and also provide a useful date for launching a new initiative such as a revised company road safety policy or driver training programme.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Not a drop, Not a drag’ and encourages drivers never to drink any alcohol or take any illegal or impairing drugs before driving. Companies can choose to promote this theme or any other road safety theme of their choice that is appropriate to their business.
Brake can provide guidance on how businesses can get involved in Road Safety Week.
Katie Shephard, Fundraising Manager at Brake, commented: “Road Safety Week is a fantastic opportunity for companies to piggy back on a national campaign to help raise awareness of important and life saving road safety messages whilst raising their own profile amongst staff, customers and the general public alike.
