Fire Risk Assessments

Fire certificates became obsolescent with the introduction of  The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

The new law applies to all non-domestic premises and places a duty of care on the Employer, the Occupier or the Owner as the Responsible Person. They must appoint a Competent Person whose duty it is to carry out a fire risk assessment of the premises. This legislation recognises that many small and medium sized businesses do not have the resources in time or money to have an employee committed full time to do this work and therefore, allows for the appointment of third party assistance to complete the Fire Risk Assessment.
